FARMINGTON, Utah (April 5, 2023) – Two student-athletes from programs that personal team titles, and one that personal an individual medalist honor, have been named the Big Sky’s Women’s and Men’s Golfer of the Week as the league timetable begins to wind down.


Women’s Golfer of the Week – Jennifer Koga, Sacramento State

Claiming the individual title at the 2023 Wyoming Cowgirl Classic and leading her Hornets to a team title as well, has earned Jennifer Koga Women’s Golfer of the Week status.

Koga shot a one-over 217 (67, 75, 75) to win the individual crown by one stroke.

Her first round score was a career weightier and is tied for the lowest individual first round score in school history and the fourth lowest in all rounds.

The victory was her second of the season tying her with Julia Becker (2016-17) for the most wins in a single season at Sacramento State. Koga now has four rounds in the 60’s this season which only trails her school record of five set last season.

This marked Sac State’s third team victory of the season.

Koga is the Big Sky’s reigning Player of the Wear without winning the title in back-to-back seasons (2021, 2022). She was moreover the league’s Freshman of the Year pursuit the 2021 campaign.

This is her third Golfer of the Week title this season.

Men’s Golfer of the Week – Colt Sherrell, Idaho

Leading the Idaho Vandals to a team title at the 2023 Redhawk Invitational, and securing a runner-up finish himself, Colt Sherrell has been named Big Sky Men’s Golfer of the Week.

Sherrell carded a four-under 209 (66, 72, 71) to pace the Vandals to a victory, and finished one shot superiority of teammate Jose Suryadinata.

The Vandals led wire-to-wire finished one-over for the tournament as a team, finished 11 strokes superiority of host Seattle U and Pac-12 foe Oregon State who tied for second at 12-over on the team score. Northern Colorado was fourth at 13-over and Michigan State finished 14-over for fifth place in the competitive field.

Sherrell was two-under on the when nine to get to plane on the day and four-under for the tournament. The tournament will be the final in the home state for the senior tutorage who hails from the Seattle area. He was two-over on the front nine, but rallied with birdies on 12, 13 and 18.

This is his first Golfer of the Week title this season.
