Hey guys,

This past Sunday my friends invited me to come hang out and walk the course with them while they played an easy little par 3. Long story short while they were warming up at the driving range, they let me take a few swings and surprisingly I was able to actually hit the ball somewhat well. This led to me being convinced to play the course with them using one of their old incomplete sets of clubs, and I had a blast. Obviously l was terrible but they all told me my swing looked really good for a beginner and convinced me that golf is something I should continue to pursue.

Now my question is where do I go from here? My Dad has also been wanting to learn to play, so I think the two of us will take a lesson together so I can nip any bad habits in the bud and hopefully just practice and play with my friends from there to get better. Is this a good plan?

What about equipment? My friend actually gave me his old set of clubs but it’s pretty much just old irons so I will definitely need to buy some more stuff to really get going. I have my eye on this Top Flite starter set but have seen mixed reviews about Top Flite stuff here. At the same time I’m brand new so I know I don’t need anything super fancy. I would like to keep my budget around $300 for clubs and what not if I can. Any advice at all is appreciated!
